PC really stands for "pain [in my] crack"

When did "secretary" become a bad word? It used to be that Secretary or Receptionist was a perfectly acceptable job (for women, at least - men probably still get a lot of crap about it, like male nurses), but suddenly calling someone a secretary brings you one step closer to understanding how a wildebeast feels while having its skin eaten by a pack of rabid wolverines.

I'm all for giving people good job titles, I mean no one wants to be "Head Elephant-Dung Shoveler" but there has to be a limit. I heard someone say the other day of her job as a nurse/caregiver in a home for the elderly, that her job title was "Associate". How is an associate the same thing as a nurse? Where's the shame in nursing that we don't want to use that title anymore? Personally, I think it's a very worthwhile profession, and one that I couldn't do myself so I admire those who have it in them to do such a job.

Housewives are "domestic engineers", garbage collectors are "sanitation engineers", janitors are "environmental hygienists". You can inflate the title all you want, but a school janitor is still the poor sap who has to clean up the disgusting messes that kids make in the bathrooms. I'm not sure that calling the janitor a "environmental hygienist" really makes him feel any better about having to clean up the nurse's office (oh, sorry, Associate's office) after some green-faced kid yarks all over the floor. And no one is really fooled by these job title changes - we know that a "domestic engineer" is really a housewife. But what's wrong with that? Who would be embarrassed to be a good mother devoting her time to taking care of her children? It's not for everyone, but you certainly shouldn't be embarrassed enough about it to have to change your title. I just don't get it.

That said, I'm applying to have my job title changed to "The Great Pie: World Overlord".

Edit: Thanks for all the input about the new design. I'm going to tweak it a bit more - I think Kelly is right that it's not really me as it is.
